Comparative Adjectives of Superiority

 

The Comparative Adjective of Superiority is used to compare two things, people or whatever. The rule is very simple:

 

1) For short adjectives (one or two syllables), just place the suffix -er followed by than to the adjective. Examples:

John is taller than Michael

Mary is blonder than Jane

 

2) For long adjectives (three syllables or more), use the determiner more before the adjective and than after the adjective. Examples:

John is more handsome than Peter

Jane is more intelligent than Mary
